The life needs assessment (LNA) is a community project launched in Syracuse, New York that includes multiple organizations asking the same questions and sharing their results with each other while protecting the confidentiality of their clients.
Why survey?
• Better Planning
• Improved Programming
• Strategic Resource Allocation
• Impact Demonstration
The info obtained is intended to help perform community needs assessment, organizational and program planning, program evaluation, community impact assessment, match-making between organizations, recruitment of clients, and other activities designed to benefit the central New York community.
The LNA can answer questions such as: What do we want to change in the community? What is happening now? Who needs to know? Who could serve my clients’ needs where we cannot? Whose clients can our programs help? What needs to happen to better serve our community?
The LNA is part of OEI’s participation in the Central New York Community Foundation’s Performance Management Learning Community (PMLC), which is intended to help strengthen local organizations’ ability to gather and utilize data for planning, adapting, and improving programs and services.
