Habitat Enhancement

Habitat enhancement projects improve the environment to ensure the survival of organisms, enhance the reproduction of specific populations, and strengthen overall ecosystem integrity. Habitat enhancement work includes researching previous and current environmental conditions, assessment of the potential for reestablishing healthy populations (e.g., macrophytes, macroinvertebrates, and fish), demonstration projects that compare the efficacy of enhancement options, and establishment of long-term monitoring programs to inform future habitat improvement efforts.
